There was a great turnout of volunteers last Wednesday to collect seeds from the wildflower meadows.
The morning commenced with a talk and demonstration on how to collect the seeds from a wildflower expert.
The 25 volunteers, including Lady Captain, Ber Crowdle, spent four hours collecting the seeds. Apologies were received from Club Captain, Paul Colfer.
Sean Dowling, Greenkeeper, oversaw the collection and said the large amount collected will ensure a fabulous display of colour next year.
The next step in the development of the wildflower area will see the cutting back of the current crop and the harrowing of the area to encourage the regeneration of the resown seeds.
The Wildflower area will continue to be a NO PLAY ZONE. Members will be allowed a free drop at the point where their ball crossed into the designated area, not nearer the hole.
With over 100 golf balls collected and despite the pleas of some volunteers, to be allowed keep their golf balls, all golf balls were donated to the Junior/Juvenile Club.
We can look forward to a much more vibrant array of colour and flowers early next year.
A big thank you must go to the members for their compliance with the Clubs request not to enter the designated area.
Saturday Crosscard Fourball.
The annual Saturday Crosscard Fourball will make its return later this month with the first session set to take place on Saturday, 23 October.
The usual format will apply where members will be informed of their playing partners upon registration. It is requested, by the organisers, that members pay, using notes and not coins when entering.
