Members Casual Golf Bookings.
After approval at the last Joint Committee meeting, we are now ready to introduce our Casual Booking System.
This will allow members to book casual slots, outside of competitions and block bookings, 10 days in advance. This will be a rolling Casual Booking system, where each day a further day will become available and members will have a rolling10 day booking opportunity.
The guest, online booking, will be available seven days in advance and so members will have priority booking ahead of visitors.
Bob Murphy Shield.
A couple of weeks ago I asked the question, did anyone know anything about The Bob Murphy Shield?
My thanks to Christy Power, who was able to tell me that Bob worked for Willoughby’s and was also a very good Campanologist. He continued his bell-ringing on returning to Dublin, in St. Patricks Cathedral. Christy, is also of the belief that the Shield may have been an inter-club event and also may have been a mixed competition.
The shield was, in the trophy cabinet, in the function room of the Clubhouse for many, many years. We will search the stores to see if it can be located and maybe reveal more information about the Bob Murphy Shield.
If any of the above information rings a bell (sorry) for anybody, please contact me via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or leave your name and number and any details you may have into the office.
Last week some competitors failed to enter their scores on the computer, resulting in a number of two’s going unrewarded. On this occasion the Competitions Committee reviewed all cards and awarded the relevant members credit to their account in the Pro shop.
As the golfing season gets busier it will not be feasible to check for members achievements and their efforts will go unrewarded. Scores not on computer will not feature in two’s club. Members are reminded that, having entered and played in a competition, they must return their score by entering same on the various terminals provided. This procedure also applies to those players who use their phone to enter an event.
With the golf season about to go into full swing, you are reminded that to be able to enter for the Captains Prize in July, you must have returned a score in three eighteen hole singles events. The first of these competitions will be this week-ends, Spring Singles.
Golf le Gaeilge/Seachtain na Gaeilge.
This week is “Golf le Gaeilge” week and bag tags are available for members to pick up throughout the clubhouse with Irish phrases for all the golf terms.
It even includes the Irish term for Bandit which is “Ropaire”, driver is “Maide mór
” and Out of Bounds is “Thar Teorainn”.
My favourite is “An Bear”, the 19th Hole and hopefully you will all enjoy a cúpla pionta tar-eis an Galf this St. Patrick’s week-end.
Remember a – cúpla focail, gach lá, Gach Áit, Le Gach Duine. Bain trial as.
Let’s have a go! It is part of who we are.
A member lost his 3 Wood, G25 ping cover on the course. If anyone has found same please return it to the office and it will be re-united with its owner.
Food & Beverage.
St. Patrick’s Day will see the launch of the Club’s exciting new food menu where patrons can choose from Starters/small plates, Grills, and House Favourites. Well done to Barry. Check out the new wine list which includes quality wines for you to enjoy including Rose and Prosecco.
