AIG All Ireland Cups & Shields
The sheets have been put on the Men’s notice board, inviting players to express their availability for selection on the various teams.
Details of the competition formats, handicap limits and managers are included on the sheets.
First round matches for all competitions are expected to be played in late March or early April.
The Course staff wish to thank all those who are making the effort to repair their pitch marks during the round of golf.
Unfortunately, there are still a substantial number who make no effort to repair same.
In these conditions, if you pitch a ball onto the green you will invariably will leave a mark on the green, so, please look for it and repair immediately.
Using your pitch mark repairer, and working from the back and going around the indent pull in your repairer, returning the disturbed grass to cover the damaged area.
Do not use the repairer to dig up the earth thus leaving a brown patch that will take forever recover. Please do not be afraid to remind your playing partners if you see them neglecting their duty and be aware that even a pitch from 30 or 40 yards will create a pitch mark at the moment.
Further details on how best to repair a pitch mark can be found on YouTube.
There are many examples on youtube and the link to one of them is listed below.
A new pathway has been put in place on the way from the 17th tee box.
Practice Putting Green
Please note the practice putting green will close Monday to Friday for the next couple of weeks and will be open at the weekends. This is to give it a chance to recover.
Wild flowers zones
Members are reminded that the designated wildflower areas on the course are strictly no go zones. This is particularly important at the moment as Spring brings new shoots.
The seeds which were harvested by members last September will be resown, adding greater colour and brilliance to this season’s crop.
If your ball lands in one the designated areas, players must agree with their playing partners, the approximate location of the errant shot.
You may then take a free drop, in line with that point, within one Club length and not nearer the hole.
Food & Beverage Update
This week sees the arrival of our new coffee range from the Blue Butterfly Company.
From today you can order from a range of coffee options and enjoy a quality coffee in the Clubhouse or if in a rush, why not opt for a take out.
Don’t forget to try a fresh scone from our new selection.
