General Notes
Captains Drive-in.
Kindly Sponsored by Club Professional Jimmy Bolger.
Captains, Mags Cuddihy and Liam Barrett held their Drive-in last Sunday,13 February.
Despite the extremely heavy rain overnight and early morning the clouds cleared and a very large crowd gathered to wish both Captains well for the day and the year ahead.
With Mags splitting the Fairway and Liam, teeing off from the Ladies tee, sent his drive out right. With the amalgamation of both Clubs under Golf Ireland, is this a sign of things to come?
This was followed by a Four Person, mixed team Champagne Scramble with 34 teams playing the 13 holes in beautiful weather.
The golf was followed by an excellent hot plate of Chicken Curry or Beef Strogonoff.
The prize giving took place after the food, with the presentation of the Captains Mixed Team event, sponsored by James Walsh, Toyota Motors, followed by the Drive-in prizes kindly sponsored by Club Professional Jimmy Bolger. Full details of prize winners below.
In what was, an excellent atmosphere, both Captains addressed the members, expressing their gratitude and thanks to all who played, turned up for the Drive-in and sent greetings.
They both wished all members a successful years golf and hoped that the various team would experience success in their quest for silverware.
General Manager.
As the Club prepares to say farewell to General Manager, Sean Boland, after 15 years at the helm, we welcome his successor, Mark Ruddy to Kilkenny Golf Club.
Mark, a proud Tipperary man, arrived at the Club on Monday, will work with Sean, until he retires in late March.
Mark has moved from the position of General Manager of Lucan Golf Club, having held similar positions in Courtown and Charlesland Golf Clubs.
His career includes time as Marketing Manager for Carr Golf and he spent a number of years in the United Arab Emirates as the Golf Events Manager at Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club.
Mark brings extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of Golf Club management. He was a former qualified golf professional but had his amateur status restored in 2018.
Mark has the requisite skills in team management, financial and project management, strategic planning and marketing to ensure Kilkenny Golf Club will be managed effectively and will further develop the business and ensure the Club maintains its reputation as a premier course.
