General Notes
April 26th.
The countdown has well and truly started for the resumption of golf on Monday week, April 26th.
Whilst it will not be in the manner we would have wished for, it is a beginning, nonetheless.
Kilkenny Golf Club has set out strict protocols for its return to golf and with the support of its members we will be able to embrace any changes in these regulations and move forward in the weeks ahead.
Members will already be familiar with many of the protocols from the previous return to golf.
However, there are new restrictions in place for the commencement of golf on the 26th.
There will only be casual golf allowed initially.
Members will be able to play either 13 holes or 9 holes.
All golf must be pre booked through the BRS. You are not allowed to just turn up and hope to join in.
Please remember to adhere to the two-metre rule of social distancing, particularly when on the tees or on the greens.
Only two households are allowed play together either as a two ball, three ball, or four ball.
The Daily time sheets will reflect the different times which will be allocated in facilitating these arrangements.
The Clubhouse will remain out of bounds to members.
The toilets will be operated on a one out, one in basis.
The lockers rooms will remain closed. Members will be permitted to retrieve their clubs on a pre-arranged day/time and will then have to store them at home.

When we return to golf on Monday, 26 April, we will require some volunteer marshall’s to monitor the 1st Tee box and play in general.
We will require four marshall’s, per day, 08-11.00, 11.00-14.00, 14.00-17.00 and17.00-20.00hrs., a total of 24 sessions per week.

Junior /Juvenile Club
The Junior par three course has progressed under the watchful eye of Eddie Power and Jimmy Bolger.
All fairways have now been mown and defined. The greens have been treated and are taking shape, in preparation for the recommencement of the Junior golf season.

Irish Open, Mount Juliet. Thursday, 01 July – Sunday, 04 July.
Bernard Gibbons & Sean O’Neill were in contact with the club last week as regards Stewarding at The Irish Open, which takes place from July 1st to 4th.
At this stage they don’t know how many spectators, if any, will be allowed but, they will still require some stewards. If you supplied your details for the postponed event last year you should receive an email shortly from the European Tour enquiring if you are still interested in stewarding.
In any case, please respond to if you are available and interested this year. Please supply your date of birth, email and contact number with your response.

Course News
Sean Dowling, having already sown half of the wild flowers was joined by seven volunteers last Thursday to complete the final one and a half acres.
The volunteers, Paul Colfer, Philip O’Neill, Pat Hickey, Ann Greaney, John King, Pat Walsh and Richard Butler, had no problems social distancing as they were required to be two meters apart when hand sowing the seed.
The first shoots should be noticeable in approximately five/six weeks, with flowers blossoming in June.
The Management will be meeting this week to clarify the ruling pertaining to any stray shoots that end up in the newly sown area.

Barry Joyce continues his take away catering this coming weekend.
Meals will be available for guests on Saturday (16.30-19.30hrs) and Sunday (13.00-17.30hrs.)
