General Notes

November Christmas Hamper Series.

In association with Caulfield’s SuperValu and O’Brien’s Butchers, Loughboy.

The final event of the November Christmas Hamper series took place last week-end with a three person team event for both Ladies and Gentlemen.

Overall the competition was very well received and enjoyed by all.

With the very generous sponsorship of Caulfield’s SuperValu and O’Brien’s Butchers, Loughboy, there were 45 prizes on offer over the four weekends.


Presentations of Hampers.

It was originally hoped to present all the prizes for the Hamper series on the evening of the Christmas Mixed but the Competition Committee have decided, in view of the increasing cases of Covid, to do the presentation of hampers on consecutive Fridays.

The first of these presentations will take place this Friday, 03 December @ 18.00hrs in the Clubhouse.

On Friday, 10 December, the remaining two events, Scotch Foursomes and the Three Person Team will take place at 18.00hrs in the Clubhouse.

Annual General Meeting.

The Annual General of the Mens Club will take place on Thursday week, 09 December at 19.30hrs.


Notices of Motion must be submitted to the Honorary Secretary, in writing, at least seven days (Thursday, 02 December) before the date of the Meeting.

Such notices, which must carry the signatures of the Proposer and Seconder, shall be promptly posted on the Club Notice Board.

Food & Beverage Manager

We are delighted to announce Dermot Hyland as our new Food and Beverage Manager. Dermot will commence duty on tomorrow, Wednesday, 01 December.

Dermot has worked in the hospitality industry for the last 37 years with a wide experience in the hotel and bar industry. He began his career in The Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow in 1984. As Bar Manager in the Hibernian Hotel for almost 13 years, he became very well known to many people in Kilkenny as the front man for one of the most prestigious bars in the city. Dermot also joined Carlow Golf Club as a junior member and has a love of the game which he hopes to rekindle in Kilkenny Golf Club. We know you will join us in welcoming Dermot to the club and wish him every success in his future career with us.

Name Correction

Last week, in announcing the results of the Scotch Foursomes, I incorrectly credited Brendan Rogers with winning the event.

The correct result should have read Bryan Rogers who, along with his partner, Conor Morrissey, posted 34 points to win the event on a count-back.

Apologies to both gentlemen.
