Tribute to the late Aileen Hehir.
It was with deep regret and sadness that we learned of the recent death of our dear member Aileen Hehir.
Aileen had a long association with Kilkenny Golf Club which spanned over 30 years. During that time she served on many committees, holding the office of Lady Captain in 1992 and Lady President in 2005/2006. Her commitment and vision for the club was recognised when she was appointed Trustee to the club in 2009 and held that position up to the time of her death.
Aileen loved her golf and was happiest when out playing with fellow members. She represented the club on many occasions on inter-club teams and was very proud to do so. She was Team Manager for many teams over the years.
Aileen had many interests outside of golf, and loved to play bridge and twenty five’s.
She spent many happy Wednesday nights in the club house bar playing cards with her fellow card players.
Throughout all her years, Aileen worked selflessly for the betterment of Kilkenny Golf Club, offering encouragement to new members and fostering good relationships with everyone she came in contact with in her many roles. Her ladylike manner and wonderful sense of humour endeared her to all and she will be fondly remembered and missed by all the members and staff alike.
