Bad weather hampered the return of competitive Golf at the week-end with Sunday proving to be a near wash-out. Thankfully, The Richard Duggan Menswear sponsored event had large numbers turnout on Saturday and Monday.
Despite the weather, on Sunday, there were some excellent scores posted. Two of the top three places, Ivan Dunne (13), 67 & David Charlton (3), 68, were two such players.
Encouraging news also for the Junior Cup selectors was the solid performance of many of the potential team members.
Competitions continue this coming week-end with the Club Fourball Qualifiers taking place. The competition, v Par, will see the top 31 pairings going forward to the matchplay stages where they will be joined by last years winners, Benny Cleere & Derek Cleere.
The June Bank Holiday week-end will start with the May Monthly Medal and the qualifying round for the Club Singles on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Due to the curtailed golfing year, only 31 players, along with last years winner, Richard Guilfoyle, will go through to the matchplay stages.
There will be a Semi-open four person Team event on Bank Holiday Monday June 7th.
Please note due to Covid restrictions bunker rakes are not allowed and as a result placing is allowed in bunkers without penalty, the ball must be marked before lifting and replaced in the bunker not nearer the hole.
For the moment, Members will not be able to register, on their phones for any Fourball competitions. It is hoped to be able to do this in the near future.
Following a request from some Seniors who are struggling to get on the Thursday & Sunday timesheets as they go live for booking at the same time on Fridays we are going to split them going forward.
The normal weekend competition & Ladies Tuesday competition booking will revert back to its original pre Covid position of 5.30pm and the Senior Mens and Members Casual Golf will remain at 6pm.
Members Missing Wallet
A member is missing his wallet and thinks he may have lost it in the car park or on the course last Sunday, if you happen to come across it please drop into the office.
We have a new supply of divot bags if a member wishes to collect one and use it during their round, at the moment due to Covid members are requested to keep their bag in the boot of their car and replenish it from the bin on the way to the first tee.
We also have a selection of lost clubs in the foyer which were handed in by members.
A few members still owe the fee for the Karl Morris workshop which was held back in March, we are trying to close it off, if you are one of those outstanding please drop the fee into the office.
Aon Insurance Scheme.
The Aon Insurance scheme is now closed for current members but we can still add on any new Members who wish to avail of the scheme. The current scheme will run until 31st March 2022.
Old Habits Die Hard.
Only one competition into the new season and once again members are returning to their bad habits.
Over 20 players did not return their scorecard at the week-end.
Thanks to those members who did return an N/R.
Regardless of why you had an N/R, once you have registered/signed in to play you are required to input your the scores you achieved and enter zero for the holes not played and enter your scores onto the Terminal.
Purse – Club V1 App
By now, it is hoped that, all members have downloaded the ClubV1 App and will have noticed the addition of the Purse, whereby members can add funds to pay for their weekly competitions.
It is intended that the Purse will go live, for competitions, on the weekend of Saturday, Sunday & Monday, 12, 13 & 14 June, which Members will be booking on Friday, 04 June.
In order to book for that weekend’s competition, your Purse will need to be activated with money in it.

• If there is no money in the Purse it will not be possible to be booked onto the timesheet.
