General Notes
The Kilkenny Honda Centre Golfer of the Year.
The Golfer of the Year competition resumes this week with the March Monthly Medal, which also doubles with the Club Singles Qualifier.
There are 11 more competitions in the Golfer of the Year, which will be presented on finals day in October.
The bonus point competitions for the year are the Club Singles Matchplay, the Richard Duggan Memorial and The Ladies Captains prize to men.
The current leader of the Golfer of The Year is Paul McCabe but, with so many competitions to go, it’s wide open as to who will be the eventual winner of this prestigious award.
A full leaderboard and the method of points calculation will be included in the notes next week. All Golfer of the Year competitions will have “goty” marked opposite them on the computer and the leaderboard will be kept up to date and displayed on notice board in the club.

Reservations
A reminder to members that all golf reservations, including weekly competitions and casual golf can be made at the usual time of 17.30hrs. on Friday evenings.
Members have permission to book more than one time in the Tuesday to Friday slot. Likewise, you may book casual golf and competition golf at the week-end. This is being done on a trial basis as pressure on timesheets has eased and will be closely monitored to ensure that all members get the same opportunity to play
All casual golf MUST continue to be pre-booked. No member has permission to arrive unannounced and expect to play.

Club Fourball Qualifier.
The first of the Club qualifiers took place at the week-end, with in excess of 150 Pairs vying for one of the top 31 places eligible for the draw for the matchplay stages.
Last years winners, Charlie Brown and Kevin Lenihan will be added to the list.
Due to Covid 19 regulations score cards cannot be checked before Tuesday with the results and draw notified on Wednesday. This will be the same for all competitions, for the foreseeable future.
It is hoped to put the draw up on the Club V1 App. This is still in the experimental stage and your patience is required.

Gent’s Club Singles Qualifier & March Monthly Medal
This week-end will see the Gent’s Club Singles qualifiers take place. This stroke play competition will see the top 31 players join last years winner, Richard Duggan, in the draw for the match play stages.

Lost and Found
Over the last few weeks a number of clubs that were found on the course and left into the Clubhouse, have yet to be claimed.
Recently a ‘fit-bit’ was found at the back of the 11th green. The owner may collect same from the office.
Any items found out on the course should be left into the bar.

Open Junior/Juvenile Fundraiser
The Junior Golf Team Event will be held next Wednesday, 15 July.
This is an open, four person team event to support our 300 plus young golfers in the Club and to provide them with the best coaching and competition.
The timesheet is now open for bookings and the competition is kindly sponsored by Campion Insurances.
The cost of entry is €15 for members and €20 for visitors.
When entering you may include guest in your team but at least two days before the competition you must ring the office and name all four players that are actually going to play.
On the day one person should pay for the team and provide a contact phone number when paying for the team. There will be 10 minute intervals between teams, in compliance with GUI guidelines.
Public health guidelines should also be strictly adhered to on the day.

Away Outing Faithlegg
Following on from the success of the Gowran away outing, the Gent’s Senior Society head to Faithlegg next Monday, 13 July.
There are still a couple off slots available and interested members should put their name on the entry list on the Seniors notices board.
All protocols that were in place for Gowran will apply again for Faithlegg.

Regular Thursday outings
The regular weekly Seniors outing makes a welcome return this coming Thursday.
Regrettably, the turn up and play system has had to be replaced with an entry sheet placed on the Seniors notice board.
With a two tier time system members are requested to register for the early or later times and participants will be notified of their time in advance.
Thursday’s draw and timesheet will be posted on the notice board on Tuesday, 07 July.
Please note, that on the day of play, entries will be taken at the Starter’s Office adjacent to the first tee box and NOT in the Pavilion. No entry via Clubhouse.
This will help to reduce the numbers gathering in the Clubhouse.
Numbers may have to be limited and the committee are working on a way to use the BRS system for future bookings.

A great day was had by all at the splendid Gowran Park Golf Club. The course was in pristine condition. The food and service was of a very high standard. The scoring was good but a little below the normal. The new food arrangements (meal served as one arrived back to clubhouse) seems to have been a winner with all.

First home outing since COVID19 outbreak this Thursday.
Next away outing Faithlegg Golf Club, Waterford next Monday 13th July. Draw will be notified tomorrow Tuesday 7th July.
