General Notes
Covid 19. Level 3
Following the Government’s decision to place the Country on Level 3, the facilities available to members will be substantially reduced.
There will be no Bar or Catering facilities available to members in the Clubhouse. These restrictions come into effect from mid-night tonight and remain in effect for three weeks.
The only facilities open in the Clubhouse, from tomorrow Wednesday, 07 October, will be the Ladies & Gents toilets.
Locker rooms for changing and the storing of clubs and caddy cars will not be available.
Members are requested to retrieve their golf clubs and caddy cars from the locker rooms before this Saturday.
They should keep their clubs and caddy cars in their cars for the next three weeks.

Catering
In a proactive move, Barry Joyce will operate a take-away facility at the week-ends .
On Friday and Saturday’s, he will operate from 16.00hrs to 19.00hrs. and on Sundays he will provide this service from 13.00hrs to 16.00.
Members wishing to avail of this service are requested to phone Barry on 086 820 5260.
Barry will confirm the menu available and confirm a collection time for your order.

Handicaps
Members are reminded of their obligation, when playing away from home, that they must declare their home club when registering for any competitions including classics and team events.

Winter Rules.
Placing.
Placing on fairway only comes into place this Wednesday, 07 October.
Players must mark the ball before lifting, clean and replace within six inches, not nearer the hole.
Players scores in singles competitions will continue to count for handicap purposes.
Placing also remains in bunkers with same rules applying.
The ball must be played as it lies in the rough.

Ropes & Stanchions have been put in place on the surrounds of some greens.
Do not remove these stanchions or stand on the ropes.
Please enter the green through the gap left between the stanchions.
These are immovable obstructions and if they interfere with your swing or stance relief may be obtained as per Rule 16.1b. Page 95 in Rules of Golf.
Relief may be taken without penalty within one club length from the nearest point of relief (The Reference Point) and which is not nearer the hole.

Bar Levy with Annual Subscription.
Any unused balance of the €50 is normally written off at end of October but, due to current circumstances, it will be extended to end of December this year to enable members to use it up.

Health & Safety.
Some works will be taking place on to the approaches to greens in the coming weeks with some trenches being opened up.
Members are requested to take due care during these works.

Practice Ground
Members are reminded that when using the practice facilities, they should be hitting in the direction of the 12th tee box only.
A member has reported balls landing on the 12th green, which could only happen if players were hitting balls back in the opposite direction.

Intrusions
Following a number of intrusions on the course by non members, you are advised to exercise caution.
Do not approach the intruders but, immediately phone the Garda 056 7775000, who have already been informed of the situation.
Please inform the office also of any such incidents.

Team News
Kilkenny Junior Cup Team advanced to the semi-finals of the AIG Leinster Junior Cup last week-end when they overcame Greystones by a margin of 31/2 to 11/2.
At home and in very difficult playing conditions, both Brendan Dowling and Alan O’Rourke were down in their matches early on but fought back to secure solid victories by 3:2 and 4:3 respectively.
In Greystones, our first man out, Sam Dunlop, was beaten on the 17th.
Over to our second man, Rory MacEneaney, who secured the vital point for Kilkenny when he closed out his match 2:1.
Richie Guilfoyle was level when called in.
Reserves on the day were Simon Cullen (away) and James Young (home).
The travelling support provided by Paul Colfer, Vice Captain, Club Secretary, Morgan Doyle and Sean Boland was very much appreciated by the team members.
Club President Michael Grant and Lady Captain, Bridie McGarry were on hand to encourage the home players who, due to the unavoidable absence of Luke Kelly, were managed by Club Captain, Anthony Cleere.

The Senior Ladies joined with the Senior Gents for the Annual Mixed Champagne Scramble last Thursday.
The weather, for the early starters, proved very favourable but the later participants were not so lucky.
Nonetheless all the participants enjoyed the occasion.
Senior Ladies Captain, Margaret Harmer and her Vice Captain, Bridget Norwood joined forces with their counterparts, Brian Keane and Philip O’Neill and led the field a merry dance and emerged clear winners by four points.
The full results are printed above in the Senior Gent’s sector.

Our next outing, on Thursday, will be a nine hole competition.
Bookings are available, on line, via the BRS, with the first tee off at 09.20hrs.

Sunday, 04 October. Junior Sixes.
The weekly get together for the Junior Sixes was cancelled due to the inclement weather last Sunday evening.
Weather permitting, the final session of the season will take place next Sunday.
