Team News – Inter Club
Competition:- AIG Jimmy Bruen Shield Fourball
Kilkenny had three home matches when they played Gowran in the Jimmy Bruen Shield on Sunday.
As was the situation with the Pierce Purcell last week, a very tough battle was decided by the final match. With both Tom Buckley & Jerry Rowe and Nathan Ryan & Benny Cleere going down in their matches, and Tom Sloyan & Aidan Brennan securing a home point all eyes turned to Gowran, where Ollie Cullen & Bobby O’Mahony had secured a valuable away point with Bobby recording 4 birdies in the match, once again it went down to the wire. James Young & Aidan Phelan went all the way to the 20th before losing out.
Well done to all concerned. Their hard work and commitment is very much appreciated by all.
Managers:- Leo Byrne & Alan Snype

Barton Cup Fourball 5 Pairs ( Handicap Combination of 14 )
Lowest player back to scratch and 9/10 of difference for remaining players
The Barton Cup team went down 3/2 to Callan on Saturday afternoon.

The team picked up two away wins in Callan with Brendan Dowling & Ian Harrison and Nathan Ryan & Chris Fitzpatrick picking up the two wins. The other pairing in Callan were Jeff Kealy & Paraic O’Keefe.
At home Derek O’Gorman & Benny Cleere were beaten on the 16th and the deciding match involved Richie Guilfoyle & Sean Kennan. Richie & Sean were one up laying the 17th and both hit good shots to the 17th, Callan holed a very good putt for birdie and Sean who was inside him just missed his birdie putt which left the match all square playing the 18th . All four 4 players hit the 18th green with Eoin & Sean closest with 8 ft putts for birdies, after both Callan players putted and missed Kilkenny had two opportunities to win the match but both just missed their birdies. The match was decided on the 19th when the Callan player who had a shot on the hole got a great up and down from the tree at the bell for a four.
The team was managed by Brendan Power & Paddy Crotty.
This was the third successive club match where we lost a sudden death tie hole to lost the three matches 3/2.
Hopefully our luck is due to change in the coming weeks.

Course News
Thanks to those who turned out for the Divot repair session yesterday evening.
All tee boxes and fairways were completed.
We will be reintroducing the Divot bags by the weekend. We will be requesting members who are willing to help out to keep the Divot bag in their car boot and each time they go out to play to fill their bags from the container on the way to the first tee. Ideally they will have their own scoop also and there will be no need to touch the bin when filling their bag.
Hopefully we will get a good response, those members who are willing to participate please text me with your name to 087 1250853.

Please remember to smooth the bunkers with your clubhead or your shoe when exiting the bunkers.
