Team News
Competition:- AIG Junior Cup 2020
Format:- Singles team event for those with a handicap of a minimum of 4.
Kilkenny were drawn to play Borris in the Junior Cup last Friday. Borris had the advantage of three home games. Superb golf by the Kilkenny team paved the way for a three and a` half to a one and a half victory.
Away, Sam Dunlop played superb golf to win 8 & 6 and Simon Cullen won two up. Whilst Liam O’Hara lost his match 4 & 3, he was only two over for the 15 holes he played.
At Home Brendan Dowling finished his match on the 13th with a 6 & 5 victory.
Richie Guilfoyle, was level when, called in from the 14th.
Kilkenny’s reward is a match against Gowran to be held on the Thursday, 06 August.
Managers:- Luke Kelly & Aidan McDonald
Competition AIG Pierce Purcell 2020
Format:- Four-Ball match play.
Carlow is never an easy challenge and in a very tight and hard fought Pierce Purcell match the Kilkenny team came out the wrong end of gigantic battle by a score of 3 & 2.
Kilkenny won the first two matches at home but, Carlow took full advantage when they won their opening match on home soil.
The result was in the balance until the very end with the Kilkenny lads losing the final two matches in ‘extra time’.
A big thank you to all involved for the huge effort and was very much appreciated by the Team Managers.
Result:-
Home:- Kevin Lenihan & Charlie Brown won on 17th
Alan Brett & Derek Kinahan won on 16th

Score Cards
Members still refuse to put their name, and handicap on their scorecard.
It is the responsibility of each person to ensure that they complete their score card correctly.
Despite last weeks reminder, members continue to forget to ensure the basics are completed on their card.
There were a number of incidents again this week.
Failure to do any of the above will lead to disqualification and this is being implemented immediately.
A reminder that if you feature in the top three of an away competition or Classic you must record you score on the sheet on the notice board in the foyer.
Club Scratch Matchplay.
The entry date for Scratch matchplay, category one golfers has been extended.
The entry sheet is on the notice board in the lobby.
