Seniors European Tour Qualifying School.
Club Professional Jimmy Bolger is taking part in the Seniors European Tour Qualifying School in Portugal. The initial two rounds took place over two courses on Thursday and Friday last.
The top 20 qualified for a further four rounds and were joined by those who lost their cards last year, with only five cards available after the six rounds are completed.
Jimmy secured his place for the final four rounds when he finished joint top, on four under and will play on the Pinta Course, Pestana Golf Resort, this week, commencing Monday.
Despite an encouraging early birdie, Jimmy carded a bogey, double bogey on five and six before recording his second birdie and turned one over for the front nine.
A solitary birdie and par were the only bright light of a very disappointing back nine and a seven over total leaves him trailing by 10 shots from the top five.

Inter Club Team Managers
There will be a meeting of all Gent’s team managers in the Clubhouse this Wednesday, 29 January at 19.00 hrs.

Ladies Get Into Golf.
Sometimes getting started can be the most difficult part of participating in a new sport and especially golf. This is mainly due to the perceived cost constraints, such as cost of set of golf clubs, clothing, footwear, membership costs and personal time available to play due to family commitments.
So, in order to boost the membership of Ladies in golf clubs once again, the ILGU with the Confederation of Golf in Ireland (CGI), launched the Ladies Get Into Golf programmes all over the country in 2014.
Kilkenny Golf Club originally launched the‘ Ladies Get Into Golf‘ programme in 2016.
The initial minimal fee allows all Ladies who might like to play the game of golf the opportunity to participate in a structured eight week programme which consists of a mixture of golf lessons with our Club Professionals and on course activities with experienced Lady golfers from the Ladies Club – called ‘Buddies‘.
This allows the participants to gain technical instruction and enjoy the social environment of the club.
Times are officially assigned for play on the course.

Ladies into Golf Information Evening.
It is with enthusiasm that the ladies of the Kilkenny Golf Club committee and ‘Buddies‘ of the Ladies into Golf in our club, will welcome the ‘Ladies into Golf‘ who have progressed from the past year, to a social and information evening on Wednesday next, 29 January at 19.30hrs.
These ladies are now ready to progress to the next stage where they can achieve a handicap and be eligible to play in club competitions.
The ladies have discovered during their introductory period that golf is great fun,a great way of getting fit and of course they also enjoy the social interaction and the odd drink and meal in our newly decorated clubhouse which provides catering seven days per week.
It is expected that this method of introduction to the game of golf will encourage and inspire more ladies to give it a go and take up the game at a competitive level.

Round Robin Entry
It is very encouraging to see so many ladies have entered for the Round Robin
competition. The competition will run from the beginning of February to the middle of March.
There are still places available, so don’t delay ladies, get your name up on the sheet which is posted on the Ladies Notice Board. This competition caters for all categories of handicap.

Due to the closure of the course for the week there was no Ladies competition.
