General Notes
President, Michael Grant’s Prize.
There was an excellent turnout for Club President, Michael Grant’s day.
In excess of 330 cards were returned for the two day competition.
Conditions weren’t as pleasant as that for the Captain’s day with the ball collecting mud on occasions, resulting in a comparative low scoring leader board.
Congratulations to Kieran Hoban (10), who’s front nine of 21 points, included a birdie and five pars, set the foundation for a winning score of 40 points, just one ahead of Mikey Drennan on 39.
Jeff Kealy won the student prize with a very fine 40 points.
Disappointingly for Michael Grant, due to Covid 19, there was no presentation of prizes on the evening.
Hopefully the Prize Presentation night will be able to take place on a future date when restrictions have eased

Brabazon Trophy. (English men’s amateur stroke play championship)
Kilkenny’s Mark Power fell agonisingly short of a memorable victory after lighting up the Brabazon Trophy with a superb final day showing at Sherwood Forest Golf Club.
Lying one shot back after the opening two rounds Mark posted a disappointing two over, 73, in round three.
Power’s final day five-under par round of 66 bettered the field by a full four strokes on Friday and included two eagles in a blistering front nine of 33.
He matched that score on the way home, picking up two more birdies in the process to set the clubhouse target at minus 10 and when those in front faltered, a sudden death play-off was confirmed with Power, joined by Frenchnman, David Ravetto and Dane Christoffer, both at 10-under.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for Wake Forest man Power, however, who bowed out at the first extra hole (par) before glory was confirmed for France when Ravetto birdied the next.

Mark continues his quest for further glory this week when he plays in the qualifying rounds of the British Amateur Championship being held in Royal Birkdale with the top 64 from the stroke-play going into the match-play.

New COVID guidelines issued by Government 18 August, 2020
As part of the recent government guidelines on COVID 19 there are a few important changes to the protocols to be observed in the Golf Club.
The good news is that we can continue to play golf and continue to use the club facilities including the Proshop, bar and restaurant once everyone adheres to the guidelines set down.
The bar and catering staff have the unenviable job of trying to ensure everyone abides by the guidelines.
They are providing a wonderful service at this time and we would ask for your full cooperation with them at all times.
The abiding principle within the club is, to ensure the safety of all members, staff and visitors and every member has a personal responsibility to ensure this happens.
A big thanks to all the members who have helped to ensure that this has been the case to date and thank you in advance for your understanding and patience throughout these unprecedented times.
The following are the key guidelines with new guidelines included.
Full COVID 19 guidelines have previously been sent to all members.

Course and Proshop
• Booking a tee time in advance remains compulsory.
Bookings via BRS or, in exceptional case, by phone to the office.
• The player booked on line must play.
• If a player cannot play, they must cancel their time. It is not
acceptable to give your tee time to someone else.
• There is to be no mixing between groups. Under no circumstances can you
join with another group on the course.
• Strict adherence to 2 metre physical distancing before and after events
and on the course at all times.
• Strict avoidance of gatherings including social gatherings before or
after events.
• Maximum 2 customers allowed in the pro shop at any one time.
• Ladies score entry area: Maximum two ladies at any one time and one at

Face Coverings
Face coverings must be worn on entering all parts of the clubhouse including the pro-shop, locker rooms, toilets, and bar areas. All customers in the bar area must wear a face covering until seated and again on departure.

Bar and Restaurant area
• Tables must be pre booked.

• Opening time is10.30am with food available from 11.00-19.30hrs. If you want a meal outside of these times please contact Barry and he will facilitate.
• Bar and restaurant must close by 23.30hrs.
• On entering the bar area go directly to a seating area.
• Members cannot approach the bar area or stand at the bar. Once seated the staff will take your food and drink orders.
• Once seated customers can only leave their tables to use the toilets, pay or depart the Clubhouse.
• No mixing with other seated groups.
• No formal or informal events or parties can be organised on the premises. This includes any prize presentations.
• The maximum amount of time a person can remain in the clubhouse is 105 minutes.

Competitions
•Golf competitions and matches are to revert to behind-closed-doors. This includes inter- club matches and club championships.
Attendance by one parent or guardian in a safeguarding capacity for those aged 17 and under is permitted and wouldn’t be considered a ‘spectator’ in this case. No spectators are currently permitted following the announcement of new restrictions on Tuesday, 18 August.

Course News
Divot repair session.
A very big thank you to the 16 volunteers who turned up for the divot repair session last evening. These sessions are going since 2012 and some of the original volunteers continue to turn out for the sessions. Thanks also to those who turned out yesterday morning to collect litter on the course. All of this volunteer work is most welcome. The Course committee very much appreciate your help.
It is very disappointing to see, that there is, a large contingent of members who still refuse to take a bag of sand mix with them.
Please help maintain our course by doing so from now on.

The organisers are extremely grateful to all who played and also the large number of sponsors who supported the event, in these most difficult times.
