General Notes
Club Fourball and Singles Matchplay
Qualifiers in both the fourball and singles matchplay competitions are reminded that due to the restricted time frame caused by the pandemic, they have to complete their matches by the stated date which is on the sheet on the notice board.
As of this morning there is only two matches completed in the Fourball.
Whilst the responsibility for arranging matches falls to the pair on top of the draw, all parties should make the effort to arrange matches.
In the event of incomplete matches the Committee will toss a coin to determine who progresses to the next round.

Competition Enrties
The PSI terminals are back in use for both Ladies & Gents for signing in and entering their scores.
Ideally one person should enter the three scorecards for their group and sanitize their hands after inputting the scores.
Score recording procedures are as last week. Please get your marker to verify your score and then you write his/her name on the card, he/she does not need to sign it.
Those who have downloaded the Club V1 app on their phones should be able to sign in, record and enter their scores via the app if they so wish.
Players must still place their card in the score box beside the terminal in the locker room.

The bell on the 1st hole is back in action. There is a foot pedal at base of the tree so members don’t have to touch it.

Score Cards
It is the responsibility of each person to ensure that they complete their score card correctly.
There has been a number of incidents recently where competitors have failed to enter their name on top of the card. Others have failed to record their handicap. Also the date is required to be written down.
Failure to do any of the above will lead to disqualification.
A reminder that if you feature in the top three of an away competition or Classic you must record you score on the sheet on the notice board in the foyer.

Local Rule for Bunkers due to Covid 19
June 2020
When a players ball lies in a bunker, the player may take free relief once by placing the original or another ball in and playing it from this relief area.

Reference Point: Spot of the original ball.
Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point: Within six inches of
the reference point, but with these limits:

Limits on Location of Relief Area:
Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and
must be in the bunker.

The player may clean his/her ball, but is not allowed to improve the conditions affecting the stroke including smoothing the sand before placing the ball. In proceeding under this Local Rule, the player must choose a spot to place the ball and use the procedures for replacing a ball under Rules 14.2b and 14.2e.

Whilst we all have had some very difficult times during this pandemic I am asking you to consider supporting the charitable causes that hold Golf Classics each year in Kilkenny Golf Club.
The first up is the Homecare Classic and is being held this Thursday and Friday (23rd & 24th). The format is a team of four with two scores to count at each hole. Cost is €50 per person (€200 team) to include your golf, meal and prizes.
There are a still a few time slots available and interested parties should contact Paddy Phelan on 087 632 4979.

On Wednesday, 12 August the St. Vincent de Paul Society will hold their annual Golf Classic. The format is a three person team with two scores to count at each hole. Bookings are available online. The cost is €25 per person.

Junior Club Fundraiser
The Junior Club fundraiser was held last Wednesday and proved to be a great success, with a very full timesheet.
We would like to thank all the members and visitors from neighbouring clubs for their support. Also to Limerick hurler Gearoid Hegarty and his team from Castletroy who enjoyed their first visit to Kilkenny and were very impressed with the course.
Thanks also to our very genorous sponsors, Campion Insurances, whose continued support is greatly appreciated.
