General Notes
A ‘bitter sweet’ fortnight for Mark Power.
In has been an extraordinary two weeks for Mark Power, in what was a case of “so near and yet so far”.
Coming off the disappointment of losing, in a three way play off for the Brabazon Trophy,
Mark headed to Royal Birkdale to compete in the British Amateur Championship.
The stroke play qualifiers were reduced to just the one day, because of the inclement weather.
Having secured qualification, The Kilkenny man progressed through the match-play rounds and reached the semi-finals, where he was beaten 3:1.
It is hard to fully understand the magnificent achievements of Mark Power in the last two weeks, where he played 10 rounds of intense, high pressure golf.
Congratulations, Mark. We all enjoyed following your progress these last two weeks.
Well done. Onwards and upwards.

Kilkenny Honda Centre Golfer of the Year.
After the three, bonus point, competitions in a row, the Golfer of the Year has had a lot of movement.
None more so than Richard Guilfoyle who picked up points in all three competitions to take a significant lead into the last five competitions.
Other movers were of course the Captains prize winner Nathan Ryan and the winner of the Presidents prize Kieran Hoban.
The top 10 in the Golfer of the year are
1. Richard Guilfoyle. 55
2. Nathan Ryan 39
3. Tony Butler 38
4. Kieran Hoban 37
5. John Greene and Rory McEneaney 35
7. Eddie Power, Paul McCabe, Tommy Buckley, 33
10. Kevin Browne. 32
The competition will be concluded on finals day with the final of the Club singles which could have a big bearing on the destination of the trophy

Boys U15
The Kilkenny Boys U15 played the Wexford U15’s last week-end.
Disappointingly and despite some very hard fought matches our lads were on the wrong end of a tight game.
With Joe Green winning on the 17th and Billy FitzPatrick losing on 17th the focused turned to the home matches.
In very close games our only point came from Sean Manogue while Tom O’Neill and Oisin Bateman just came up short.
A big thank you must go to the team members who gave their all against a very strong Wexford outfit.
Team Managers:- Ger Crowdle & Joe O’Shea.
