General Notes
Lady Captain, Bridie McGarry’s Prize
A wonderful day was enjoyed by all the Ladies of Kilkenny Golf Club who turned up in great numbers last Saturday to honour the Lady Captain, Bridie McGarry on her Captain’s Prize-day. The weather was fantastic on the day and the course, which was presented in prime condition by the greens staff, enabled all the Lady members to enjoy their game regardless of the score returned.
Congratulations to all the prizewinners and especially to popular member Breda Burke, playing off 17 handicap who won the Lady Captain, Bridie’s Prize with a score of 72 nett.
The full detailed results are listed in the Ladies Notes.

There are still incidents of members booking casual golf and failing to turn up and play their booked time.
This is grossly unfair to the following members who have to wait for their allotted time.
If you have booked a tee time and for one reason or another you cannot make it you must remove you name from the time sheet.

Thank You
This coming week-end sees Kilkenny Golf Club say a big thank you to all its members for their patients and understanding during the Covid 19 lockdown and the restrictions imposed when golf resumed in May.
On Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday the Club will host a four-person Team event for its members.
There will be numerous ‘staycation’ golf based prizes on offer and after your round of golf members will be able to enjoy a two course meal in the Clubhouse on completion of their game.
As an added bonus and separate to the golf prizes there will be a special draw for all participants in the event for a five day break in the Algarve to include Hotel accommodation and breakfast plus three rounds of golf.
So, don’t be too disappointed if your golf is not up to par. Just ensure you return your card and you never know, you and your team might be on the way to the ALGARVE.
One snag – members are only allowed to enter the event once.

Club Matchplay Competitions.
Participants in the various matchplay competitions are reminded that they must adhere to the completion dates as set down.
In both the Singles and Fourball competition there is one outstanding quarter-final.
In the Scratch matchplay there is only one semi-finalist known.
Please avoid disappointment and don’t let the Committee decide your fate.

Thursday & Friday,10 & 11 September. Friends of St. Lukes GC.
Last Thursday and Friday saw the 29th staging of the Friends of St. Lukes Golf Classic in Kilkenny Golf Club.
In pleasant conditions 69 team’s, representing 39 different clubs participated over the two day event.
With the course playing long and the greens very testing, the consensus was that low 90’s would win the day.
Our winners, from Gowran, were not prepared to listen to consensus and shot a magnificent 98 points to win by four.
All the participants spoke very highly of the excellent condition of the course and in particular the difficult challenge of the greens. Caterer, Barry Joyce provided the participants with an beautiful meal following their round of golf.
The organisers would like to thank all the teams who participated, those who sponsored holes and prizes and the numerous players who made donations to “The Friend’s” on the day.
