Annual General Meeting of the Joint Club.
The 24th AGM of the Joint Club of Kilkenny Golf Club took place via Webinar last Thursday.
There was a very large attendance, with 225 members attending virtually.
The attendance included one member, who is serving overseas with the Irish troops in the Lebanon. Well done Rob.
Whilst the meeting could not allow audience participation, it did not stop one member from offering his opinion, when the question of Pitch Marks arose, his message was very clear – “Pitch marks, what are they? I always miss the green”.
The meeting was an extremely well run and highly organised affair.
Congratulations to all concerned.
Ratification of Officers
Having previously been selected to serve at their respective AGM’s, the meeting ratified the following members, for the coming year.
Captain of the Men’s Club: Paul Colfer
Captain of the Ladies Club: Ber Crowdle
Vice Captain of the Mens Club: Liam Barrett
Vice Captain of the Ladies Club: Margaret Cuddihy
Election of Officers.
The Honorary Secretary read out the list of nominations for Officer positions.
Honorary Secretary: Morgan Doyle.
Honorary Treasurer: Annette Stapleton.
Both members were appointed to office.
Following the counting of the vote, overseen by Trustees, Dave deLoughrey and Jim Spratt, the following were elected.
Richard Butler, Padraig Keegan, Brian Meredith,
Ben McGarry, Philip O’Neill, Carmel O’Shea, Barbara Teehan.
The Treasurer, Annette Stapleton expressed her pleasure in seeing the Club finish the year in a positive manner.
The various measures taken, Covid subsidies, wage cost savings, increase in membership numbers, increase in competition participation, and a general tightening of the purse strings, led to a healthy bottom line for the club.
The Chairman Anthony advised the meeting that the Joint Management Committee at their November meeting voted to grant Honorary Yearly membership for 2021 to Seamus Rochford, in recognition of his outstanding service to the Club having served on committee as Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer and Captain over the past number of years.
He was pleased to advise the meeting that Seamus had accepted the honour.

Leinster Finals of AIG Pierce Purcell & Junior Cup 2020 Update
Whilst there has been no update for the staging of the 2020 Finals of the AIG Pierce Purcell & Junior Cup the competitions, Golf Ireland continue their efforts to reschedule the Leinster finals.
Below is a brief extract from their recent e-mail.
“I am writing to update you on our continued efforts to reschedule the Leinster finals of the 2020 AIG Pierce Purcell and Junior Cup.
While the primary focus at present is on working with the Government authorities to ensure the safe return of golf as soon as possible, it also remains Golf Ireland’s ambition to conclude these competitions in early 2021, at a point where public health restrictions permit.
In this regard, we are considering a number of potential scenarios for the completion of these events but are awaiting the next review of the current lockdown measures, due before the end of the month.
We hope to be in a position to provide a further update on the competitions shortly afterwards.”
Barry Joyce continues with his excellent take-away meals this coming week-end.
