Caddy Car Room – Bungalow
Please note the new structures for storing the Caddy cars will be going into the bungalow this week and there are 3 trolleys which are chained to the window screens which need to be removed before this can take place. Those who own the trolleys are requested to remove them as soon as possible in order that the work is not delayed.
Club Singles Qualifier
In the Club Singles qualifiers 216 members played over the week-end in an effort to secure one of the 63 places available for the match-play.
With the winter rules finished, it would appear that the playing the ball as it lay in the rough made scoring difficult.
Not so for the leading qualifier, James Young (6), who shot an excellent 66 to win by two strokes from James Hogan, Aidan McDonald, Tommy Deegan & Noel Meagher.
With the elimination of two student members and the withdrawal of two other qualifiers, it will mean all scores on 73 will make the draw.
Depending, whether or not there are any further withdrawals, only one or two 74’s will be in the pot for this evenings draw.
The 64th and final spot goes to last years champion Iain Harrisson.
Anyone who played in the Mens Club Singles qualifier this weekend and who does not want to, or is unable to play in the match play series, please let the office know before 17.00hrs on Tuesday, before the draw is made.
The Mens Competition Committee, in 2018, made a rule that score cards should be swopped for marking purposes.
The practice of one player marking all three cards must cease and each player should mark another player’s card.
This will be monitored in the coming weeks.
Masters Sweep Draw
The cut off point for entering the Masters Sweep is this Wednesday (10th) at 14.00 hrs.
If entering the sweep please place your name on the sheet in Bar and put your €5 in an envelope and give it to the Barman.
The draw for players will be held on Wednesday evening and will be posted on the pillar in the bar.
Social Mixed Golf.
Social Golf kicks off its new season on Good Friday, 19 April, with a Champagne Scramble.
Registration is at 17.15hrs with a Shot-gun start at 17.30
Members who are playing golf, late in the afternoon and may wish to avail of food on completion of their round are requested to inform Barry prior to going out for their game.
Out of Bounds
Kilkenny Golf Club has not changed the out of bounds rule and the ruling, as per 2018, remains.
If a competitor puts his ball OOB he/she goes back to the spot from where he/she played their errant shot and incur a stroke and distance penalty.
A reminder to all gentlemen. When playing in a Stableford competition, they should check the index on the card.
Following the recent review of the course indices there has been an adjustment to five holes.
