Members are reminded that they must have three completed singles cards prior to the qualifying round of the Captain’s Prize to be eligible to play in the competition.
Golfer of the Year
Starting with this week-end’s Spring Singles, although these will not count for handicap adjustments, members cards will count towards their three cards. The Kilkenny Honda centre golfer of the year competition kicks off again after the winter break with the March Monthly Medal on the 30th and 31st March. After the first two rounds in September and October’s monthly medals Vice Captain Anthony Cleere leads with 22 points ahead of Tommy Barry on 21 and Graham Nugent on 15 . This year the competition is open to all adult members of the club including intermediate members. The scoring for each qualifying competition is 15 points for 1st 12 points for 2nd and points allocated to the top 20 and ties depending on how close your score is to the 2nd position e.g. 66 is 2nd and gets 12 points 67 gets 11 68 10 etc . For the 4 majors captains prize presidents prize and lady captains to men the winner gets 20 points 2nd gets 15 etc and for club singles winner gets 20 finalist 15 beaten semi – finalists 10 and quarter finalist 5 . There are 14 competitions in all so all to play for. An updated leader board is displayed on the notice board in the week following each qualifier.
European Amateur Golf
Mark Power has been selected for the 4 man Irish Team for the European Nations Championship 2019 at Sotogrande GC, Spain from 10th to 13th April 2019.
